Healthy Eating with Detox Recipes

Detox RecipesDetoxification is an important part of keeping a body healthy by making sure that you take in lots of fiber and water to clean out the toxins. As well you will probably want to eat lots of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. During a detox it is important to stay away from beverages with caffeine as well as carbonated drinks, anything with sugar such as chocolate or candy and alcohol drinks and anything containing yeast such as beer and breads.

If you want to try something different, try a monotrophic diet after you do a three-day fast. This means that you will be only eating one type of fruit for every meal. This could include only apples or bananas at breakfast, oranges or pineapples at lunch and perhaps a grapefruit or some grapes for a snack in the afternoon. For the evening meal try eating only apples, pears or bananas.

If you plan on going on a detox program you will also want to include drinking plenty of water. Other beverages to try are herbal teas such as ginger or chamomile. You might want to add a ½ teaspoon of Turmeric to your ginger tea. This will provide the body with some antioxidants as well has help clean out the toxins.

Here is a great recipe for a Healing Tea:

2 cups of water, ½ teaspoon of grated fresh ginger and a ½ teaspoon of turmeric. To make the healing tea, add these ingredients to boiling water and let simmer for ten minutes. Strain the tea into a mug and add 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and the juice of ½ a lemon. Stir and enjoy!

If you would rather have a juice for breakfast then try this recipe. The juice will give you a boost of energy and help waken up your digestive system:

1 whole cucumber, 4 celery sticks, 2-4 cups of spinach, 8 lettuce leaves. You can also add other green vegetables like parsley and fresh alfalfa sprouts. Run everything through your juicer and then add fresh distilled water or drink as is or you can add some freshly squeezed lemon juice to improve the taste.

For lunch you can try a fresh, raw soup:

1 avocado (peeled, seed removed and chopped), 2 green onions, ½ red, yellow or green pepper, 1 cucumber (chopped), 2 cups of spinach, ½ clove of garlic (crushed), lemon or lime juice and Bragg Liquid Aminos for added taste. Add everything to a blender or food processor and blend everything together. Bon Appetite!

Perhaps a Warm Broccoli Soup would be great for dinner:

½ avocado, 6-8 broccoli heads (chopped), 1/3 red onion (chopped), 1 celery stick (chopped), a big handful of spinach, inch of root ginger (grated), cumin and Braggs liquid amino for added taste. Lightly steam the broccoli for 5-6 minutes and then blend all the ingredients together in a food processor or blender and add fresh garlic (crushed) and pepper to taste.

If you are still feeling hungry you can certainly have a snack such as fresh fruit or vegetables, or even make yourself another fresh juice. The key is to make sure that you keep your energy up while detoxing the body so make sure you drink plenty of water during the day.
