There are lots of different juicers on the market so how do you know which is the best one for you? There is no doubt that juicing at home is a healthy alternative to buying premade juicers at the grocery store. For one thing, the nutrient content and enzymes is higher.

Some juicers will get more out of the fruits and vegetables that you use than others. As well some are easier to clean which is something to take into consideration if you are planning to make juice everyday.

There are three kinds of juicers: centrifugal juicers, masticating single gear and masticating twin gear. Here is some information on all three.

Centrifugal Juicers
These juicers are easy to use, and make juice fast and the good ones can get a lot of juice out fruits and vegetables. You simply push the fruit and vegetables down the feed tube, mostly whole, onto a serrated cutting blade that is spinning rapidly.

This spinning extracts the juice sending it to a container while sending the pulp to another container attached to the machine. One brand that is very popular is the Breville Fountain Elite.

These are called slow speed juicers and will juice a wide variety of fruits and vegetables as well as wheatgrass. Because they slowing extract the juice there tends to be less oxidation of the juice which means that the nutrients last longer. Cleaning is generally easy but these machines tend to be more expensive than the centrifugal juicers. One brand that is popular is the Omega J8005 Nutrition Center Single-Gear Commercial Masticating Juicer.

Masticating Twin Gear Juicers
These are the most efficient of all the blenders but they also tend to be the most expensive. They squeeze the fruit and vegetables between two stainless steel cylinders. Because the juice is extract at a much lower temperature the quality of juice is much better than any of the other machines. These are an excellent choice if you are a serious juicer. The most popular brand is the Hurom HU-100 Slow Juicer.

If you would rather not spend the money on buying a juicer, then you can always make juice without a juicer at home.
